2019 Tutu Fellow Uzoma Nwagba has been appointed by Nigerian President Bola Tinubu as the CEO of Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CreditCorp).  A statement issued by the President's office said that Uzoma's appointment was in keeping with the president's goal to ensure financial inclusion and economic prosperity for the majority of Nigerians.

Prior to this appointment, Uzoma had served as COO of the Nigerian Government's Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), in charge of driving micro-credit and other financial interventions at the institution.

CreditCorp is a company owned by the federal government of Nigeria with the mission of accelerating consumer credit access to 50% of working Nigerians by 2030. CrediCorp - and its consumer credit guarantee fund - works closely with the Central Bank of Nigeria, the financial sector, identity management, credit registries, fintechs, consumer protection, and policy makers on this mission.

His prior experience as the Chief Operating Officer of Nigeria’s Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) saw him managing the world’s largest microcredit scheme. GEEP leveraged the power of a technology-driven operation to disburse and manage a portfolio of two million loans to underbanked Nigerians, demonstrating the biggest advancement of financial inclusion via credit in Africa. A spokesman for the President said that Uzoma's wealth of experience in finance and technology would help him expand access to credit for all classes of Nigerian citizens and promote financial inclusion. By so doing, it would enhance the quality of life of Nigerians by giving them better tools to access prosperity.

Prior to his switch to finance, Uzoma was a Software Engineer at Microsoft, where he led multiple teams charged with building enterprise and mobile software for emerging markets in Brics countries.  He is also a Global Eisenhower Fellow.
