2020 Tutu Fellow Josea Rono PhD has been nominated by World Health Organisation to join the global WHO Technical Advisory Group on Vaccines and Antimicrobial Resistance.

The WHO is the United Nations’ health agency and is committed to promote health, keep the world safe, and serve the vulnerable. Working through offices in more than 150 countries, WHO staff work side by side with governments and other partners to ensure the highest attainable level of health for all people.

Josea will be part of the Technical Advisory Group running till 31 December 2023. His work will be organised around developing a strategy, understanding the pipeline of vaccines in development, articulating the value of vaccines against antimicrobial resistance, developing methodologies to measure the impact of vaccines and assuring the impact of vaccines at the country, regional and global levels.

Josea is a founding managing partner at E&K Consulting, a pan-African advisory and investment firm providing turnkey solutions in the healthcare, finance, technology and energy sectors. He is a recognized thought leader in healthcare business, health financing, global health and international development. He has advised on healthcare mergers and acquisitions worth over US$ 20 Billion, developed strategies for healthcare businesses worth over US$160 Million and advised several healthcare programs in Africa & Europe.
