Professional History: Mugwe Manga is the co-founder and CEO of Olsuswa Energy Limited, a Kenyan geothermal development firm voted among the top 50 companies on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) Future Shapers ELITE network for innovation in 2020. Since 2016, the company has been developing the Barrier concession in Kenya. Olsuswa Energy's purpose is to transform lives through geothermal energy. He has been involved in several start-ups and is a seasoned business strategist with more than 15 years’ experience.
He says he remains fixated on finding and driving solutions that create sustainable growth for Africa. He is the author of several thought-provoking articles and the book The Energy Future of Africa.
He began his career at Goldman Sachs, London, and has since gone on to serve on African boards, including ICEA Lion Insurance Group, East Africa’s leading insurance company; and he is also a board member of VisionFund Kenya, a micro-finance institution that is part of the World Vision family.
In 2010, he co-founded the Africa Digna Foundation chapter in Kenya, a Spanish-based foundation that focuses on promoting education for girls from less privileged backgrounds, and in 2018, he helped set up Kenya’s first ward-based neighbourhood association where he lives, to promote civic participation, accountability and good governance.
